Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Division Counsel to oversee and coordinate all division legal matters, with an emphasis on land acquisition. The role involves advising on land use, entitlements, and development, as well as reviewing contracts and coordinating with title companies and municipalities.

The attorney will supervise or assist in litigation, review homeowner association documents, and provide guidance on employment and safety topics within the division. Travel overnight as needed.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor required and licensed in good standing.
5–7 years of experience and/or training in relevant law.
Proficiency with MS Office and email.
Ability to apply common sense and follow written/oral instructions.

Responsibilities

Provide legal advice related to land acquisition, land use, entitlement, zoning, and development.
Review and revise homebuyer contracts and HOA documents; advise on RESPA, FHA/VA compliance.
Review subcontractor contracts and pursue disputes as needed.
Assist in managing division litigation with outside counsel; participate in hearings and settlements.
