D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Division Counsel to oversee and coordinate all division legal matters with emphasis on land acquisition.

The role involves advising on land use, entitlements, zoning, development, contract review, and coordination with title companies, municipalities, and outside counsel. Qualifications

• JD required; five to seven years of experience in corporate or land/real estate law preferred.
• Licensed attorney in good standing with state bar(s).
• Proficiency with MS Office and email.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on land acquisition, entitlements, zoning and development; coordinate with title company and municipalities.
• Review and draft homebuyer contracts, RESPA and FHA/VA compliance matters.
• Draft and revise HOA documents and marketing contracts as needed.
• Assist in division litigation with outside counsel and provide necessary documentation for proceedings.
• Advise HR on employment policies, training and safety programs (OSHA).
• Draft subcontractor contracts and resolve disputes.
• Advise on construction and warranty related legal issues.
• Handle customer disputes and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
