Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Division Counsel to oversee and coordinate all division legal matters with an emphasis on land acquisition, development, and regulatory compliance.

The role includes drafting land purchase contracts, reviewing title and development documents, and coordinating with outside counsel, title companies, and municipalities to ensure timely closings and adherence to policies. Strong negotiation and advisory skills are essential.

Qualifications

• JD required and licensed attorney in good standing.
• 5–7 years of experience in corporate or division counsel roles.
• Ability to interpret contracts and development documents and coordinate with outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on land acquisition, entitlements, zoning, and development.
• Draft land purchase contracts and negotiate with seller’s counsel.
• Coordinate with Region/Corporate counsel and internal contract approvals.
• Review and revise homebuyer and HOA documents; advise on RESPA, FHA/VA, and compliance.
• Manage division litigation with outside counsel; attend hearings and conferences.
• Assist HR with employment policies, safety programs, and training.
