Job summary

D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Division Counsel to oversee and coordinate all division legal matters with a focus on land acquisition in Schaumburg, IL. The role requires a JD and 5–7 years of experience, with licensing in good standing and strong drafting skills.

You will draft contracts, review title and development documents, coordinate with outside counsel, and manage internal approvals while assisting with HR, safety, and compliance matters for the division.

Qualifications

• JD required and licensed attorney in good standing.
• 5–7 years of experience in relevant law.
• Must be able to work with outside counsel and internal teams.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Experience with land acquisition, zoning and development is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on land acquisition, entitlements, zoning, and development.
• Draft land purchase contracts and negotiate with seller’s counsel.
• Coordinate with Region/Corporate counsel and internal contract approvals.
• Assist with title, land development documents, and closings.
• Review homeowner association documents and marketing contracts.
• Support division human resources on policies and safety programs.
