Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Diverse Learners Teacher to provide instruction and support under the principal’s supervision. The role emphasizes meeting IEP goals, collaborating with case managers and teachers, and maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

The ideal candidate holds an Illinois ISBE license (LBS1 endorsement) and a bachelor’s degree or higher, with a commitment to equity and high expectations for all students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
• Complete CPS online application and teaching profile at cps.edu/teach.
• A valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of Education with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the role – LBS1.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a deep understanding of content, pedagogy, and student knowledge to select learning objectives and design coherent instruction and assessments.
• Create a respectful classroom environment with strong classroom management for diverse students.
• Respond to student needs by designing engaging instruction and assessments.
• Exhibit excellent oral and written communication and professional judgment especially in interactions with administration, colleagues, families, and students.
• Prioritize student safety through consistent implementation of the Student Code of Conduct and district systems.
• Personalize student learning through mastery and use of curriculum supplements and technology resources.
• Advocate for equity, high expectations, and developmentally appropriate instruction for all students.
