Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America seeks a transportation supervisor to oversee drivers at the assigned terminal. You will schedule routes, monitor daily activity, and ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

You will also collaborate with fleet maintenance and HR to improve performance and service levels. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a CDL and driving-related endorsements preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 to 5 years of distribution, logistics, and/or transportation experience, including leadership attributes or supervisory experience.
• Certification and/or License.
• Class A commercial driver’s license in state required.
• Have or able to obtain tanker endorsement, as required, within 30 days of employment.
• Have or able to obtain doubles or triples endorsement as required.
• Have current medical card as required.
• May be required to obtain and maintain other certifications and/or licenses for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily work direction to professional drivers to ensure safe and efficient operations and to meet customer requirements; maintain daily activity assignments of tractors, trailers, trucks, and drivers.
• Monitor daily activity to adjust load assignments, special delivery, or pick-up instructions; communicate with members, customers, drivers, dispatch, and other DFA locations.
• Maintain up-to-date copies of routes; manage routing software to increase route efficiency, lower cost, and meet customer demands.
• Create employee schedules, approve time, resolve timekeeping issues, monitor overtime, and take actions to meet goals.
• Ensure all daily paperwork for each load is properly completed (trip info, mileage for DOT, inspections, logs, maintenance, billing, tickets).
• Prepare and distribute operational reports (KPI’s).
• Establish positive relationships with members/customers to ensure optimal service.
• Hold drivers accountable for professional interactions and courteous service; resolve issues.
• Work with fleet maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained.
• Ensure performance through training/coaching; conduct safety audits; compliance with PMO, OSHA, SQF, GMP.
• Train and coach drivers on proper procedures for all activities.
• Investigate and address accidents and safety concerns with safety personnel.
• Collaborate with HR on driver counseling, discipline, recruitment, and development programs.
• Communicate with supervisors, employees, and customers to promote transportation functions.
• Be available to respond to emergencies or on-call as needed.
