Job summary

DFA is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee drivers at the Huntington, IN terminal. You will supervise daily activities, optimize routes with routing software, and ensure DOT compliance while maintaining safety and high customer service standards.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate schedules, monitor performance, and train staff. On-site position with occasional on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising drivers and operations to meet customer requirements.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety policies.
• Proven ability to schedule and coordinate multiple routes and loads.
• Excellent communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Capable of coaching, training, and performance reviews.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily work direction to professional drivers to ensure safe and efficient operations and to meet customer requirements; maintain daily activity assignments of tractors, trailers, trucks, and drivers
• Monitor daily activity to adjust load assignments and communicate with team, customers, drivers, and dispatch
• Maintain routes and utilize routing software to improve efficiency and reduce cost
• Create employee schedules, approve time, resolve timekeeping issues, monitor overtime
• Ensure daily paperwork and reports are completed for each load, including driver logs and DOT information
• Prepare operational KPI reports and distribute to stakeholders
• Build positive relationships with members and customers to ensure optimal service
• Hold drivers accountable for professional service and safety
• Work with fleet maintenance to keep equipment in good condition
• Provide training and coaching to achieve performance goals and compliance
• Lead investigations and corrective actions for accidents and safety concerns
• Collaborate with HR on recruiting, coaching, and development programs
• Communicate with supervisors and customers to improve transportation functions
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies; respond during nights, weekends, or holidays
• Other duties as assigned
