Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. in Rock Hill, SC is seeking an Assistant Distribution Manager to oversee warehouse operations and help plan, control, and direct all activities for order selecting, shipping, receiving, and general warehousing.

This role supports 24-hour coverage and requires coordinating shifts and ensuring safety compliance. You will work to maximize efficiency, monitor inventory, and guide a team of warehouse personnel while collaborating with the Supply Chain department and Warehouse

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in outbound/inbound warehousing, preferably in the foodservice industry.
• Understand mainframe software; AS/400 experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Mainframe, Excel, Word, and Access.
• Experience managing a large warehouse staff with hiring, training, motivating teammates, and resolving issues.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and memos.
• Minimum 2 years accounting, planning, analytical and/or reporting experience with increasing responsibility.
• Ability to read/interpret business periodicals, journals, and technical procedures.
• Understand financial statements and cost implications; provide cost-effective solutions.
• Ability to present information to groups of managers, customers, vendors, and employees.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; knowledge of distribution systems; understanding dispatch issues.
• Must be able to walk, stand and climb during shift.
• English reading/writing comprehension sufficient for job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee training and scheduling for certain warehouse shifts.
• Coordinate to minimize mistakes and waste in warehouse operations.
• Ensure sanitation rules and OSHA compliance.
• Ensure adequate manpower for shifts and guard against substandard workers.
• Assist with creating and implementing procedures to receive/send, unload/load, sort, and store freight.
• Review warehouse layout and product slotting to maximize order pulling and minimize errors.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs with Supply Chain.
• Assist repairs to warehouse equipment in a timely, economical manner.
• Maintain warehouse safety per company and governmental standards (OSHA).
• Help achieve monthly throughput goals as set by Warehouse Manager.
• Monitor overtime to maintain proper manpower counts.
• Monitor warehouse damages to minimize shrink.
• Train and develop warehouse personnel to meet objectives and grow capabilities.
• Assist Warehouse Manager in researching and developing new techniques to increase efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
