Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. seeks an Assistant Distribution Manager to maintain smooth operations of the Distribution/Warehousing Department and provide 24-hour coverage where needed.

You will assist with planning, controlling, and directing activities for order selecting, shipping, receiving, and general warehouse tasks. You'll oversee training, scheduling, and supervision of warehouse staff, work to minimize errors and waste, ensure OSHA compliance, and collaborate with the Supply Chain team to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in outbound and inbound warehousing, preferably foodservice.
• Proficiency with AS/400 mainframe and Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience managing a large warehouse staff with training and motivation.
• Ability to write reports, memos, and procedures with strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee training and scheduling for certain warehouse shifts.
• Minimize mistakes and waste in the warehouse operation by constant coordination and supervision.
• Conform to sanitation rules and OSHA standards.
• Ensure manpower needs for shifts are met and supervise substandard workers.
• Assist with procedures to receive/send, unload/load, sort, and store all freight.
• Review warehouse layout and inventory to maximize order-pulling efficiency.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with Supply Chain.
• Support repairs to warehouse equipment in a timely, economical manner.
• Maintain warehouse safety per company and governmental standards.
• Help achieve monthly throughput goals and manage overtime for adequate staffing.
• Train and develop warehouse personnel for future responsibilities.
• Assist in researching new techniques to increase efficiency.
