Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Distribution Manager to help run the Distribution/Warehousing Department with 24-hour coverage support. You will assist with planning, controlling, and directing order picking, shipping, receiving, and all warehouse activities.

You will oversee training, scheduling, and supervising staff, ensure safety compliance, manage inventory, and work with the Supply Chain team to meet throughput goals while continuously improving efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• 3-5 years experience in outbound/inbound warehousing, foodservice ideal
• Experience with AS 400 mainframe, Excel, Word, Access
• Experience managing a large warehouse staff, hiring, training, and employee relations
• Ability to write reports and memos, and read financial statements
• Strong analytical and communication skills, team-oriented
• Knowledge of distribution systems and dispatch procedures
• Ability to read/write English at work level, safety awareness

Responsibilities

• Oversee training and scheduling for certain warehouse shifts
• Minimize mistakes and waste through coordination and supervision
• Ensure sanitation rules and OSHA compliance
• Ensure adequate manpower for shifts and supervise staff
• Assist with procedures to receive, unload, store, and ship freight
• Review warehouse layout and slotting to maximize efficiency
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with Supply Chain
• Coordinate repairs for warehouse equipment
• Maintain warehouse safety per company and government standards
• Help achieve monthly thru-put goals and manage overtime
• Monitor damages to minimize shrink
• Train and develop warehouse personnel
• Assist in researching new techniques to increase efficiency
• Perform other duties as assigned
