Job summary

McLane Co. is seeking an Assistant Distribution Manager to ensure smooth operations of the Distribution/Warehousing Department and provide 24-hour coverage.

You will assist in planning, controlling, and directing activities for order selecting, shipping, receiving, and general warehouse tasks. The role requires coordinating shifts, optimizing layout, monitoring inventory, and maintaining safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• 3–5 years in outbound and inbound warehousing, preferably in foodservice.
• Experience with AS/400 mainframe systems.
• Proficiency in Mainframe, Excel, Word, and Access.
• Experience managing a large warehousing staff with hiring, training, and motivation.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and memos.
• 2+ years of accounting, planning, analytical or reporting experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Knowledge of distribution systems and dispatch issues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee training and scheduling for certain warehouse shifts.
• Minimize mistakes and waste through coordination and supervision.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation rules (OSHA and company).
• Ensure adequate manpower for shifts and address staffing needs.
• Assist with procedures for receiving, unloading, loading, sorting, and storing freight.
• Review warehouse layout and product slotting to optimize order pulling.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs to Supply Chain.
• Coordinate timely repairs for warehouse equipment.
• Maintain warehouse safety per company and governmental standards (OSHA).
• Help achieve monthly throughput goals (pieces received/shipped per hour).
• Monitor overtime to maintain proper manpower counts.
• Monitor warehouse damages and shrink.
• Train and develop warehouse personnel for career growth.
• Support research and development of new warehouse techniques and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
