Job summary

Leidos seeks a Distribution Engineering Supervisor in Durham, NC to lead design teams for electrical distribution projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities include overseeing work packages, QA/QC, and coordinating with clients, while performing critical calculations and project scoping. A BS in an ABET-accredited engineering program and 2+ years in electric utility design are required, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in design engineering for electric distribution with electric utilities or utility consulting.
• ABET-accredited engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial.
• Experience with National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and related design standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and direction for projects involving overhead/underground distribution, URD, Make Ready, and street light work using GIS and Work Management systems.
• Supervise design staff and QA/QC efforts for the team.
• Collaborate with design leads on client issues, schedules, and quality control.
• Review engineering design packages with clients and perform planning and follow-up tasks.
• Analyze scope and maintain schedule adherence to align with client priorities.
• Oversee engineering calculations (pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop, flicker).
• Coordinate utility conflicts and develop large design packages for complex urban projects, permits, easements, and ROW.
• Provide construction support and post-construction reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
• Contribute to team development and assist in hiring efforts.
