Job summary

Leidos in Durham, NC is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor to oversee electrical distribution projects, provide technical direction, and ensure deliverables meet client design standards and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).

You will supervise design staff, coordinate with clients on scope and schedules, perform engineering calculations for pole loading, sag/tension, and voltage drop, and foster team growth through mentoring and hires.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of design engineering experience for electric distribution
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering from ABET-accredited program
• Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
• Experience with structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calcs, protective device coordination, and load/fault calculations
• Ability to provide own reliable transportation for local travel
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams and work packages for distribution systems
• Supervise design staff and QA/QC efforts for the team
• Collaborate with design leads on client issues including schedules and quality control
• Review engineering design packages with clients and perform planning and follow-up
• Perform scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence to client priorities
• Oversee engineering calculations for pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, and voltage drop/flicker
• Coordinate with utilities and develop large design packages for complex projects in dense urban environments
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews
• Develop the team and assist in hiring efforts
