Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Distribution Engineer to join project teams delivering 2.4kV to 34.5kV overhead and underground distribution work. You will participate in design and construction, adapting plans to meet budget, design requirements, or client needs.

Responsibilities include developing distribution packages, performing calculations, applying NESC standards, conducting field inspections, and presenting client status. Travel up to 15% is required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
• FE exam completed + 3 years of experience.
• Master's in Engineering with 2 years of experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution power flow.
• Proficient with distribution design software and GIS.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical, problem-solving and detail-oriented mindset.
• EIT certification preferred if available.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare distribution-voltage packages for overhead and underground projects.
• Perform calculations: cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading.
• Apply NESC and utility standards, guides, specifications.
• Conduct field inspections of overhead/underground facilities.
• Prepare project data, BOQs, and client presentations.
• Coordinate with project managers and teams.
