Job summary

Burns & McDonnell, based in Columbus, OH, seeks a Staff Distribution Engineer to design and manage 2.4kV to 34.5kV distribution projects, coordinating with project teams through design and construction while adjusting plans to budget and client needs.

The role emphasizes technical analyses, field inspections, and producing reports and client presentations. ABET accreditation, FE or MS options, and EIT preferred, with full-time on-site work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited program; 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• FE exam completed and 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Master's degree in Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects (equipment installation, feeder design).
• Develop design sketches, cost estimates, BOMs, and other deliverables.
• Perform distribution calculations: cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading.
• Apply knowledge of NESC standards and utility guidelines.
• Research and compile project data for managers.
• Perform field inspections of overhead/underground facilities.
• Prepare/ disseminate project communications on vegetation, ROW, outages.
• Develop client presentations and visualizations to show results and status.
• Comply with policies and standards.
