Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Designer to perform designed construction, relocation, and new business work for the Distribution function. This on-site role at the Weston Buckhannon Service Center in Weston, WV involves using design standards, regulatory requirements, and customer collaboration to deliver projects from inception to closeout.

Responsibilities include safety leadership, design of 1-3 phase systems, project documentation, and billing support for extensions and relocations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required or high school with 2 years related utility design experience.
• Pass EEI Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH) employment test.
• Strong communication to guide decision-making and diffuse conflicts.
• Willing to seek guidance to fill knowledge gaps and manage priorities.
• Proficiency with MS Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS.
• Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Designs for single- and 3-phase overhead and underground systems to serve residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Serve as a regular point of contact for internal and external customers through project lifecycles.
• Support billing for line extensions and relocations; provide billing recommendations when needed.
• Coordinate permits and easements for line extensions and highway relocations with stakeholders.
• Travel to FirstEnergy offices, training facilities, and customer sites as required.
• Assist during emergencies and storm-related activities.
