Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking a Distribution Designer to perform designed construction, relocation, and new business work for the Distribution function. The role involves working with customers, applying design standards, and complying with regulatory requirements.

This on-site position can be located at the Elkins, WV area service centers and requires travel to various facilities and customer sites. The incumbent will utilize software applications including Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS, with

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a technical discipline is required or equivalent
• High School diploma with 2–5 years related work experience required
• Experience in utility design and knowledge of design practices, procedures, and methods used in construction
• Strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making abilities
• Willing to adapt to shifting priorities and work independently

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating commitment to safety across all job functions
• Designing overhead and underground layouts for residential, commercial, and industrial requests
• Coordinate with customers, prepare and manage job packages and closeouts
• Assist with billing for line extensions and relocation work as needed
• Support outage management, streetlight work, and emergency/storm response activities
• Obtain permits from railroad, DOT, and municipalities
• Document easements and maintain compliant project records
• Travel to FirstEnergy offices and customer sites as required
• Maintain records and support technical reporting systems
