Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Designer to perform designed construction, relocation, and new business work for the Distribution function. You will serve as a liaison with customers throughout projects, applying engineering practices and regulatory requirements.

The role is on-site at the Weston Buckhannon Service Center in Weston, WV, with travel and emergency support as needed. Qualifications include an associate degree or equivalent experience and proficiency in SAP, OMS, CREWS, and

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a technical discipline is required or high school with 2+ years related utility design experience.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute TECH employment test.
• Strong communication to guide decisions and negotiate outcomes.
• Willing to seek guidance to fill gaps and adapt priorities.
• Able to interpret complex written and visual information and drawings.
• Familiarity with electrical standards, codes, and safety requirements.
• Proficiency in software including Microsoft Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead and underground layouts for residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Support project progress with customer contacts, field work, and documentation.
• Assist with billing for line extension and relocation work.
• Handle OMS follow-up, inspections, and maintenance coordination.
• Acquire permits from railroad, DOT, and municipalities.
• Coordinate easements for line extensions and relocations.
• Maintain compliant records for reports and metrics.
• Travel to FirstEnergy sites and training facilities as needed.
• Support emergencies and storm response activities.
