Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Designer to manage designed construction, relocation, and new business work for the Distribution function. You will serve as a primary contact for customers throughout project lifecycles, leveraging design standards and regulatory requirements to deliver reliable service from the Meadville Service Center in Meadville, PA.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a technical discipline required or High School diploma with 2+ years utility design experience.
• Pass the Edison Electric Institute TECH employment test.
• Strong communication ability to guide decision-making or consensus.
• Willing to seek guidance to fill gaps in understanding.
• Self-motivated and able to manage shifting priorities.
• Able to interpret complex written and visual information (procedures, manuals, drawings).
• Able to gain working familiarity with standards, codes, and safety requirements.
• Able to gain proficiency in software apps including Microsoft Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS.
• Willing to participate in emergency/storm-related activities; may require extra hours.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating a commitment to safety.
• Using construction standards to complete overhead and underground designs for residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Supporting job progress through customer contacts, field work, job packages, and closeout functions.
• Facilitating billing for line extension and relocation work.
• Handling OMS follow-up requests, maintenance repairs, streetlight work, and related documentation.
• Acquiring permits related to railroad, DOT, and municipal right-of-way.
• Collaborating with customers to document easements for line extensions and relocations.
• Updating records to support technical reports and metrics.
• Traveling to FirstEnergy offices/training sites and customer locations as required.
• Providing support during emergencies and storm-related activities.
