Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. seeks a Distribution Lines Designer for the Martinsburg Service Center in Martinsburg, WV. The role covers overhead/underground design for residential, commercial, and industrial requests, using MS Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS.

Travel to various facilities and emergency/storm deployments is expected. The ideal candidate holds an Associate Degree in a technical field (or a high school diploma with 2–6 years of related utility design experience) and must pass the EEI TECH

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a technical discipline required or High School with 2–6 years related experience.
• EEI TECH employment test may be required.
• Strong communication ability to guide decision-making, negotiate outcomes, and diffuse situations.
• Willing to seek guidance to fill gaps in understanding.
• Self-motivated and able to handle shifting priorities.
• Able to interpret complex written and visual information (procedures, manuals, drawings).
• Proficiency with MS Office, SAP, CREWS, OMS, and DDS software.
• Willing to participate in emergency/storm operations and work overtime if needed.
• Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating and directing a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
• Utilizing FirstEnergy standards to complete overhead and underground designs for residential, commercial, and industrial requests.
• Supporting job progress through customer contacts, field work, job packages, and closeout functions including material review and paperwork verification.
• Facilitating billing functions for line extension and relocation work, including non-routine scenarios.
• Handling OMS follow-up requests, outages, streetlight installations/replacements, and related tasks.
• Acquiring permits related to railroad, DoT, and municipality rights-of-way.
• Collaborating with customers to secure easements for line extensions and highway relocations.
• Updating records to support technical reports and metrics.
• Traveling to FirstEnergy offices, training facilities, and customer sites as required.
• Providing assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities.
