Job summary

UNFI seeks a General Manager to lead our distribution center, driving operational controls, reporting, and people systems to support growth and financial strength. You will manage multiple departments, set strategic direction, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

The role requires proven leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to implement growth strategies while delivering reliable reports and maintaining strong vendor/business partner relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent related experience.
• Strong understanding of Profit and Loss statements.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and multiple departments.
• Knowledge of OSHA, HACCP and sanitation standards.
• Experience with change management and facility openings.

Responsibilities

• Manage all departments or functional groups and supervise subordinates.
• Collaborate with Operations, Human Resources, Safety/Loss Prevention, and Inventory Control to drive results.
• Implement cost control systems over capital, operating expenditures, and salaries.
• Oversee asset maintenance and minimize operating expenses.
• Maintain facilities and equipment and plan upgrades as needed.
• Develop and communicate growth strategies to meet sales, profitability and business goals.
• Provide timely, accurate reports on warehouse operations.
• Lead the management team and recruit/retain key personnel.
