Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a highly capable engineer to design and operate high-performance distributed storage systems. You will work on data abstraction layers, improve reliability and latency, and ship platform features used by product engineers.

The role spans two teams within Storage, requiring 2+ years of distributed data experience, proficiency in Go or Java, NoSQL and caching tech, and a passion for scalable systems. This hybrid US-based role reports to the Storage team lead.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of fulltime working experience designing, building and maintaining scalable distributed data infrastructure.
• Proficiency in GoLang or Java with expertise in multi-threading, distributed systems and databases.
• Deep expertise in NoSQL databases (Cassandra, DynamoDB, or similar) and distributed caching (Redis, Memcached).
• Experience with high-scale data storage systems focusing on reliability, availability and performance.
• Expertise with workflow/orchestration engines (Temporal/Cadence/Argo) and modeling long-running stateful workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize distributed storage systems that improve data reliability, consistency, and performance.
• Own high-leverage control-plane services with clear customer impact and strong reliability requirements.
• Develop and maintain data abstraction services for high-throughput, low-latency workloads.
• Implement and refine caching strategies using Redis, Memcached and similar technologies.
• Collaborate across infrastructure, platform and application layers to ensure seamless data access and storage performance.
• Drive innovation in storage architecture to address scalability and efficiency challenges in distributed systems.
