Job summary

The Staff Software Engineer role at DoorDash on the Distributed Key Value team centers on the storage abstraction platform that sits in front of our databases, enabling scalable data access for DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo. You will own reliability, performance, and correctness of the platform, guiding architecture and long-term direction across the storage organization.

You must be located in the New York Metro Area, Bay Area, or Seattle for this hybrid role, reporting to the Engineering

Qualifications

• 10+ years building large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with storage abstraction layers or data-access gateways.
• Expertise in low-latency, high-throughput systems.
• Strong Go experience in production distributed systems.
• Knowledge of storage internals: MVCC, GC/compaction, replication.

Responsibilities

• Own reliability, performance, and correctness of the storage abstraction platform at scale.
• Set technical direction for the platform’s architecture and long-term approach.
• Work deep in the data plane (proxy, KV, CDC, routing) to solve Tier 0 problems.
• Shape the client surface and SDKs for polyglot clients.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence roadmaps beyond the team.
• Take end-to-end ownership of the platform lifecycle from onboarding to adoption.
