Job summary

DoorDash, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer, Storage - Distributed Caching, to own high-leverage caching and locking services that affect multi-million QPS workloads.

You will scale Boulder and re-platform the Distributed Lock Service, while building self-serve tooling and observable backends. The role requires deep knowledge of distributed systems, caching tech like Redis/Valkey, and experience with Go or Java/Kotlin.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of full-time experience designing, building, and operating distributed, stateful systems in production.
• Proficiency in Go, or Java/Kotlin with deep expertise in concurrency and backend services.
• Hands-on experience with distributed caching technologies and understanding their failure modes.

Responsibilities

• Own high-leverage caching and locking services with measurable customer impact.
• Scale Boulder, the KVRocks-backed key-value store, including compaction and sharding.
• Re-platform the Distributed Lock Service onto a strongly consistent backend with sharding.
• Contribute to smart caching clients with failover, retry, and observability defaults.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues spanning cache issues and replication lag.
