Job summary

DoorDash is hiring a Software Engineer for Storage — Distributed Caching in a hybrid role based in the US. You will own provisioning of clusters and smart clients, drive Boulder’s evolution, and re‑platform the Distributed Lock Service while building self‑serve tooling and a durable observability layer.

You’ll work on cache invalidation, replication, sharding, compaction, and guardrails, partnering with teams across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo to deliver scalable, reliable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of full‑time experience designing, building, and operating distributed, stateful systems.
• Proficient in Go, or Java/Kotlin with deep expertise in concurrency and production‑grade services.
• Hands‑on experience with distributed caching technologies and understand failure modes.
• Understand distributed systems fundamentals and trade‑offs from first principles.
• Experience with capacity planning and cost discipline at scale.
• Proficiency in using AI coding tools in the full software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Own high‑leverage caching and locking services with measurable customer impact.
• Build and scale Boulder, including compaction, sharding, and domain isolation.
• Re‑platform the Distributed Lock Service onto a strongly consistent backend with sharding.
• Contribute to a standardized smart caching client with default failover and observability.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues and turn them into durable guardrails.
• Collaborate with teams building on top of caching across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo.
