Job Description:

Southwest Virginia Community College (Southwest) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial, and medical fields at a reasonable cost, including tuition waivers for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, Southwest offers associate’s degrees in fields such as business, education, general studies, liberal arts, and science. These degrees are mainly for students transferring to four-year universities, but also include programs leading directly to careers in Nursing, Radiography, and Administration of Justice.

This position provides support to distance learning students and faculty, including online course orientation, administering tests in the testing center, ensuring test security and integrity, and managing Pearson Vue and other specialized testing services. The role involves working with Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems (Canvas), maintaining updated testing procedures, and following best practices.

This position requires a one-year probationary period for both new hires and transfers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Relevant work or educational experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintain records, and collaborate professionally with faculty, students, and peers
• Knowledge of and experience with instructional distance learning operations, including computer skills, data entry, and learning new software such as SIS, LMS, and testing tools
• Self-directed with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines

Additional Considerations:

• Pearson Vue certification
