Job summary

Transdev North America is seeking Dispatchers for our WMATA location. The Dispatcher oversees road service through communication with Operators and provides customer support to clients, with safety as a primary focus.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of dispatching experience, excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work shifts or flexible schedules. DOT drug screening and compliance may apply; we offer vacation, sick leave, health benefits, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; technical degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in dispatching.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug test and DOT 49 CFR Part 40 compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee road service assigned carriers by tracking trip performance measures, route begin on time, performance, incidents, etc.
  • Provide customer support by responding to questions and concerns regarding customer trips including no shows, cancellations and missed trips.
  • Manage emergency situations for vehicle operators, act as liaison between the carrier and emergency services.
  • Manage daily service by reviewing route performance and proactively responding to situations that impact customer service.
  • Other duties as required.

Compensation

Competitive compensation $24.38 - $31.93

Key Responsibilities

  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Demands
  • 10% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
  • 90% of work is accomplished outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; most work is performed alone and in remote locations.
  • Frequently stands and walks; ability to sit for up to three hours; walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift or handle material weighing up to 50 to 75 lbs. without assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to cleaning solutions, oils, and other liquids.
  • Must be able to travel for company training, meeting or support missions.
