Job description

Transdev is hiring Transportation Supervisors at our WMATA Springfield location. The Operations Supervisor oversees daily Dispatch operations within a 24/7 transportation environment and is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery by monitoring real‑time operations, supporting Dispatch staff, and coordinating with Operators, subcontractors, and support departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Dispatchers are actively monitoring Operators in service via radio and Dispatching Software platforms.
  • Provide coaching and discipline for Operators' non‑compliance issues, including operational service delays and attendance.
  • Oversee improvement in customer and dispatch satisfaction.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Investigate complaints and provide appropriate feedback to Upper Management.
  • Ensure dispatch personnel effectively bridge the communication between operators and customers by monitoring responses to Operator requests.
  • Provide coaching and assistance when required.
  • Communicate with Management to maximize efficiencies and resolve issues.
  • Recommend and implement discipline and direct work of Dispatch employees.
  • Handle initial Operator and Dispatcher complaints and escalating as needed.
  • Monitor charts and daily graphs to ensure all service calls are managed and completed timely.
  • Monitor real‑time call flow, dispatcher availability, service levels and other critical metrics to minimize abandoned calls.
  • Fill in as a Dispatcher when required.
  • Ensure overall compliance with office policies (uniforms, electronic device use, phone compliance, meal breaks and attendance).
Qualifications

  • Proficiency with RideCo platform.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.
  • Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic environment.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40).
Physical Demands
  • Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions, sometimes alone and in remote locations.
  • Sitting for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day) and walking long distances on uneven or slippery surfaces.
  • Push or pull objects up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.; bend, kneel, or crouch as needed.
  • Operate in high‑traffic areas and tolerate dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
