Job summary

Rooter Hero Plumbing & Air is seeking a detail-oriented Dispatcher to connect customers with our field technicians in the San Diego area. You will manage the daily dispatch board, assign calls to technicians with the right skill sets, and ensure timely, accurate information reaches both customers and team members.

You will collaborate with plumbing and HVAC teams, monitor schedule changes, and proactively adjust routes to maximize efficiency while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in dispatching, customer service, scheduling, or logistics.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak clearly, listen actively, and remain calm under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable navigating computers, dual screens, and dispatching software.
• A problem-solving mindset and the ability to make quick, logical decisions as schedules change.

Responsibilities

• Monitor our dispatch board to assign, dispatch, and track service calls for HVAC technicians and plumbers.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with technicians regarding their schedules, job details, and parts availability.
• Keep customers updated on technician arrival times, proactively reaching out if schedules shift.
• Collaborate closely with the customer service team to transition booked calls into optimized dispatches.
• Follow up on open jobs, delays, or reschedules to ensure no customer request is left unresolved.
• Document accurate, detailed notes quickly in our system to keep all teams aligned.

What Success Looks Like

Your main goal is to maximize our technicians' efficiency while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

On a day-to-day basis, success means keeping the dispatch board organized, proactively communicating shifts in schedules to customers, and ensuring technicians have all the details they need before arriving at a job.

Over time, success in this role looks like building strong, trusting relationships with our field technicians, anticipating logistical bottlenecks before they happen, and contributing to the overall growth and smooth operation of our San Diego branch.
