Job description

Transdev in Redwood City is hiring a Dispatcher to play a critical role in keeping our transportation services running safely, smoothly, and on time. As a Dispatcher, you will oversee daily road service through direct communication with Vehicle Operators, coordinate responses to service issues, and provide high-quality customer support to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee assigned transit service and operators by monitoring trip performance, on‑time departures, service quality, and incident response
  • Serve as a key point of contact for customer inquiries, including no‑shows, cancellations, and missed trips, ensuring timely and professional resolution
  • Manage emergency situations involving vehicle operators and act as a liaison between carriers and emergency services
  • Proactively monitor daily service operations and respond quickly to conditions that impact safety or customer experience
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maintain service reliability and continuous improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1–3 years of dispatching experience preferred
  • Available for early AM shift, 3:00 am–11:30 am
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Proven problem‑solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work flexible schedules or shifts as operational needs require
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical (if applicable). DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason
Physical Requirements
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day)
  • Push or pull objects up to 25 pounds throughout the workday and lift materials up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level
  • Work safely in high‑traffic environments and tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
