Salary: $34,175.00 minimum.

Purpose of Classification

Performs complex work in emergency communications support of Sheriff's department. Duties include receiving calls on regular and 911 lines, entering data into automated systems, verifying data, and relaying information. Performs routine clerical support, resolves discrepancies, answers questions, and maintains records.

Essential Functions

• Answers telephone, takes messages, drafts correspondence, and transmits information to departments.
• Receives calls on regular and 911 lines, questions callers to determine location and nature of problems, and dispatches deputies accordingly.
• Uses NCIC/T CIC tele-type networking for checks on stolen items and wanted persons.
• Records details of calls, dispatches, and messages; assembles and analyzes statistical data; prepares reports and charts.
• Prepares department documents based on policies, programs, and procedures.

Additional Functions

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers for Telecommunicators (TCOLE) certification required.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Light physical effort, extended periods at a workstation, ability to perceive sounds and visual cues, and communicate orally.

Environmental Factors

Performed without exposure to adverse conditions.
