Job Description Summary

Dispatcher work involves evaluating and managing radio calls to determine the appropriate level of emergency medical service (EMS) and rescue assistance, dispatching units, transmitting information, and performing office duties. Responsibilities include determining response priorities, recording details, questioning lifeguards, relaying information, and maintaining sensitive materials. All training is provided and paid for.

Job Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Typing speed of at least 35 WPM
  • Pass drug screening and criminal background check
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, telecommunications, and computer systems
  • Ability to work under pressure, respond promptly, and communicate effectively in English
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of emergency medical procedures
  • Ability to remain calm under stress and exercise good judgment
  • Quick and accurate information processing
  • Learn geographic and operational details of the area

Contacts and Responsibilities

Coordinate with law enforcement, EMS providers, and the public. Maintain professionalism and team cohesion. Responsible for updating flag systems and following instructions.

Working Conditions
  • Full-time during the season (Memorial Day to Labor Day), including major holidays
  • Primarily office environment, with outdoor work possible
  • Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, and reaching
