McHenry Community Consolidated School District 15 is seeking a Dispatcher for the Transportation Department. This full-time role runs a 260-day calendar with hours from 5:30am to 2:30pm, reporting to the Director of Transportation.

Start date is ASAP and responsibilities include routing, reporting, and coordination with schools and families. Responsibilities emphasize safety, efficiency, and accurate recordkeeping across bus routes and schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Illinois Driver's license; CDL with school bus endorsement preferred.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Assign driver routes daily and monitor efficiency per procedures.
• Produce reports and tabulations from computerized data.
• Coordinate with principals, parents and bus drivers on scheduling and concerns.
• Maintain constant radio communication with bus drivers.
• Keep accurate recordkeeping and reports for audits.
• Promote safe practices for transportation staff.
• Assist in routine office operations and data entry.
• Prepare data for routing program and update student/route records.
• Monitor routes for regular and summer periods; adjust as needed.
• Communicate with public and school staff in a courteous manner.

VACANCY NOTICE

JOB TITLE: Dispatcher

SCHOOL: Transportation Department

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 Days (12 Months) Full Time 5:30am 2:30pm

Minimum Qualifications/Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Illinois Driver's license. Illinois CDL License with school bus passenger endorsement preferred. Assistance and training is provided for eligible applicants.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for assigning driver routes on a daily basis, troubleshooting, evaluating efficiency of daily operations in accordance with Board Policy, established procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Produce reports, custom listings, forms and tabulations from computerized data.
• Work with principals, parents, and bus drivers regarding scheduling, route design, concerns, and student code of conduct as it relates to student behavior on buses.
• Maintain constant radio communication with bus drivers.
• Maintain accurate and efficient recordkeeping.
• Promote safe practice for all transportation employees.
• Assists in routine office operations.
• Collects and prepares data for computerized routing program. Adds, deletes or corrects student and route information.
• Maintains lists by school and category to assure all trips and athletic events are covered throughout the year.
• Establishes and monitors bus routes for the regular school year and summer school.
• Keeps track of route changes and student changes.
• Covers bus routes and/or activities on an as needed basis.
• Communicates with the public and school employees in a courteous and respectful manner regarding route and student issues.
• Assists the office staff in communicating with parents, staff and other school personnel. Ensures timely and appropriate responses.
• Attends and assists in all training and in-service staff development.
• Contacts and assigns stand by drivers and substitutes for coverage of regular driver.
• Assist the Director in the administrative forecasting and planning for district service area.
• Initiates, and follows through in the processes required for new transportation employees.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Pay And Benefits

• $22.67/hour plus benefits. The District can provide additional compensation to candidates who have prior work experience.
