Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Texas is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate with drivers, enter ticket information in our GFL software, and resolve on-route service issues. You will interact with customers, sales and operations staff to ensure timely service.

You will schedule service, dispatch calls to routes, conduct driver check-ins, review route sheets, and help optimize routes with routing specialists. Strong communication and multi-tasking are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; additional post-secondary education is an asset.
• 1–2 years in transportation, dispatch or customer service.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Customer-focused with ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Advanced computer skills; TRUX experience preferred or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Schedule service and satisfy customer needs for service changes.
• Dispatch calls to routes based upon designated route and driver location.
• Perform driver check-ins at day’s end for complete and accurate paperwork.
• Distribute, collect and review route sheets for end-of-day data entry.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve service issues.
• May perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.
• Interact with customers, customer service, sales and operations staff.
• Work with routing specialists to optimize routes.
• Field incoming calls / emails from customers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and pickup problems before they become issues.
• Assist in determining daily driver staffing levels for best mix of responsiveness and productivity.
• Record and share information from drivers with appropriate departments.
• Communicate with maintenance shop personnel.
• Communicate effectively via email, telephone and two-way devices.
