Job summary

Amgen in South San Francisco seeks an Associate Scientist Discovery Proteomics to expand LC-MS/MS-based workflows supporting the early discovery pipeline. You will execute proteomics experiments, optimize methods, and collaborate with proteomics, biology, and bioinformatics teams to deliver high-quality data for target discovery and mechanism studies.

Qualifications

Masters degree or higher in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field.
bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of scientific experience or equivalent combinations accepted.
Associates degree with 4+ years of scientific experience accepted.
High school diploma with 6+ years of scientific experience accepted.

Responsibilities

Execute and optimize proteomics workflows including LC-MS/MS for discovery and targeted approaches (DIA, TMT, label-free).
Prepare samples from cell lines and other matrices including enrichment and proximity labeling.
Operate LC-MS systems across vendor platforms and troubleshoot instrument issues.
Process and evaluate data using Proteome Discoverer, Spectronaut, and DIA-NN; communicate results to teams.
Analyze results and identify technical issues in collaboration with scientists.
Communicate experimental plans, progress and results to team and cross-functional colleagues.
Maintain detailed records of experiments, protocols and data per laboratory practices.
