Job summary

Amgen in South San Francisco is seeking an Associate Scientist in Discovery Proteomics to expand LC-MS/MS‑based workflows and support Amgen’s early discovery programs.

The role will execute and optimize quantitative proteomic workflows, including cell-surface target discovery and proximity labeling, and collaborate with proteomics, biology, automation, and bioinformatics teams to produce high‑quality, reproducible data. You will document methods and communicate results to project teams.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with proteomic sample preparation.
  • Familiarity with proteomics software and data quality assessment.
  • Experience with protein enrichment methods is desirable.
  • Ability to evaluate LC‑MS performance and troubleshoot routine issues.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and optimize established proteomics workflows for discovery and targeted approaches.
  • Prepare samples from cell lines and biological matrices.
  • Operate LC-MS systems across multiple vendor platforms.
  • Process and evaluate proteomic data and communicate results to teams.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments and analyses.
