Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. seeks a Discipline Operations Manager I to lead a discipline subgroup, align staffing and schedules, and drive performance toward Total Project Success for clients.

You will mentor team members, manage staffing and KPI metrics, collaborate with project managers, and ensure design services meet professional standards while upholding QA/QC execution across offices.

Qualifications

• Registered technical professional with 10+ years in a technical discipline.
• 5 years experience in a consulting engineering firm.
• Active and up to date in NCEES council record, if applicable.
• Experience managing projects of small to mid-scale scope and complexity.

Responsibilities

• Allocate weekly hours and staff across projects.
• Mentor subgroup members; foster growth and accountability.
• Manage performance; conduct evaluations and address gaps.
• Collaborate with Project Managers for staffing; support recruiting and onboarding.
• Ensure design services meet standards; oversee QA/QC execution.
• Coordinate with Technical Discipline Leader on process improvements; publish procedures.
• Maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and manufacturers; perform engineer/PM duties as needed.
• Review and approve timesheets and expense reports; support budgeting and provide data to leadership.
