Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is seeking an experienced Discipline Operations Manager I to lead a discipline subgroup, align staffing and schedules, and raise technical quality across projects.

You will partner with other discipline managers and the Discipline Operations Director to optimize hours, staffing, and performance for Total Project Success. Responsibilities include mentoring team members, overseeing performance cycles, collaborating with project managers, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• A registered technical professional with at least 10 years of practical experience in a technical discipline.
• 5 years of experience in a consulting engineering firm.
• Active and up to date in the NCEES council record, if applicable.

Responsabilités

• Allocate weekly hours and staff across projects with discipline Operations Manager peers.
• Direct and mentor subgroup members to foster growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and address gaps proactively.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure staffing and skill mix; support recruiting and onboarding.
• Ensure design services meet standards and oversee QA/QC execution.
• Counsel on complex design issues and provide guidance to teams and clients.
• Coordinate with the Technical Discipline Leader to implement process improvements and publish procedures.
• Foster engagement and inter-discipline coordination across locations.
