Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. seeks a Discipline Operations Manager I to lead a discipline subgroup, align staffing, and drive performance for Total Project Success.

You’ll partner with other managers to allocate hours, mentor staff, and ensure QA/QC standards while supporting recruitment and budgeting activities. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in a technical discipline, 5+ years in consulting engineering, and active NCEES records where applicable.

Qualifications

• Registered technical professional with 10+ years of practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in a consulting engineering firm.
• Active and up to date in NCEES council record, if applicable.
• Experience managing projects of small to mid-scale scope and complexity.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Revit; discipline software knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Allocate weekly hours and staff across projects with Discipline Ops Managers.
• Mentor subgroup members and cultivate growth, accountability, collaboration.
• Manage performance, provide feedback, and conduct evaluations.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure staffing and skill mix.
• Oversee QA/QC, design standards, and client requirements.
• Resolve atypical design issues and guide teams and clients.
• Publish procedures and drive process improvements.
• Maintain presence across locations and coordinate inter-discipline work.
