Job summary

United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County (UWABC) is seeking a Disaster Case Manager for Buncombe County Long-Term Recovery Group (BCLTRG). You will advocate for survivors and coordinate with partners to connect individuals impacted by Tropical Storm Helene with housing, utilities, health services, and essential needs.

This role emphasizes trauma-informed care, client empowerment, and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field required or equivalent experience.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Commitment to mission and guiding principles of UWABC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client intake, assessment, and eligibility screening.
• Engage clients with empathy and trauma-informed approach.
• Develop individualized recovery plans with clients.
• Identify disaster-related unmet needs and connect to resources.
• Navigate assistance programs and coordinate services with partners.
• Maintain case documentation and reporting for grants.
