Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Community Disaster Program Specialist to guide and support teams of volunteers delivering disaster relief services. You will engage communities, collaborate with partners, and ensure culturally and linguistically accessible programs.

You will deploy regionally as needed, coordinating with local leaders to prepare for and respond to disasters while meeting program targets and maintaining compliance with training requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience in disaster programs or community engagement.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean MVR are required.

Responsibilities

• Empower volunteers and lead disaster cycle services programming to meet urgent community needs.
• Support implementation of program activities and disaster cycle services functions within geographic areas.
• Engage disaster volunteers who reflect the communities served and communicate effectively across cultures.
• Help prepare and mobilize communities and partners for disasters and emergencies.
• Execute plans to meet targets for volunteer engagement and Disaster Action Team response.
• Serve as local point of contact for partners and communities; build community resiliency.
• Participate in disaster response operations in alignment with COA after required training.
