Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Community Disaster Program Specialist to guide and support volunteer teams delivering disaster care and services across communities. You will grow robust volunteer engagement and ensure disaster-cycle programs run rapidly, equitably, and in a culturally competent manner.

Regional deployments are required at least once a year to build skills and broaden experience. You will collaborate with local partners, prepare communities to respond, and manage volunteers

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming.
• Support the Program: Assist with the successful implementation of either specific disaster cycle services program activities, or a specific disaster cycle services function.
• Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers representing the communities they serve.
• Engage Community: Support local efforts to prepare and mobilize communities and engage partners for disaster readiness.
• Manage in a Matrix: Implement plans to meet targets for volunteer engagement and response to local home fires or tasks.
• Know Your Communities: Act as the local point of contact for partners and communities.
• Ready to Respond: Participate in disaster response operations in the region after training.
