Job summary

Columbus House, Inc. is seeking a Director of Middlesex and Veteran Services to lead program strategy and delivery for veteran services and related shelters. You will oversee three managers and one coordinator, ensuring effective operations and high-impact outcomes.

You will mentor staff, manage budgets, and coordinate with the Chief Program Officer to meet funder requirements while advancing housing-first approaches and trauma-informed care for clients at risk of homelessness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required and at least five years in social services, mental health, or substance abuse.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, teach/mentor and supervise staff.
  • Passion for mission-driven work and ability to communicate it to others.
  • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered-Planning, Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed and Housing First models.
  • Familiarity with employment resources, entitlement programs, vocational and career development.
  • Experience with trauma-informed case management and crisis intervention for homelessness.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting abilities.
  • Computer and data management literate.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusiveness and empowerment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Middlesex and Veteran Services program development, service delivery, and management in coordination with CPO.
  • Supervise three managers and one coordinator, guiding staff performance and development.
  • Manage program budgets and resources, providing feedback to improve supervision and mentorship.
  • Foster a high-performing team culture aligned with agency values; communicate vision and develop staff.
  • Set annual departmental goals, track results, and ensure accountability.
  • Participate in budget development and financial stewardship.
  • Represent programs on committees and task forces with funders and partners.
  • Monitor stakeholder needs (funders, clients, employees) and adapt accordingly.
  • Oversee program coordination, integration, and compliance with funders’ requirements.
