Job summary

KIND is seeking a Director of US People Operations to lead and shape the US HR function. Based remotely in the U.S., you will guide employee relations, labor law compliance, payroll, benefits, and HRIS, while partnering with senior leadership to advance people strategies.

You will oversee a team of HR professionals, manage unions where applicable, and drive data-driven decisions to support engagement, retention, and legal compliance across all US jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Fluent in English.
• 8+ years in HR Operations with benefits and employee relations.
• Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven settings preferred.
• 3+ years supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR best practices.
• Experience managing union relationships and negotiations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and on multiple projects.
• Remote-work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads the US People Operations team, mentoring staff and fostering a high-performance culture.
• Partners with leaders to align US HR initiatives with global strategies and business goals.
• Acts as senior advisor on employee relations, ensures compliance, and manages union matters.
• Oversees US benefits governance, payroll data workflows, HRIS integrity, policies, and SOPs.
