Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal in San Francisco seeks a Director to lead Operations Group / Transformation Services for private equity engagements. You will guide large, complex programs to improve EBITDA and drive sustainable performance across portfolio companies.

The role emphasizes hands-on consulting, structured problem solving, and collaboration with PE leadership. A minimum of 10 years in cost-reduction and organizational change is expected, with MBA preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional or consulting experience implementing cost-reduction programs, organizational restructuring, or cost-structure improvements.
• Depth in a particular industry vertical (e.g., industrial, business services, distribution, consumer products and retail) is a plus.
• MBA from a top-tier school is highly preferred.
• Experience working with private equity or PE relationships is a plus.
• Experience in both professional services and industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Structure and manage time-sensitive performance-improvement plans to completion.
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost structure by restructuring leadership, staffing levels, unit structures, and improving efficiency of back-office functions.
• Synthesize insights from data, opinions, or facts to enhance EBITDA and operating efficiencies.
• Implement cost-reduction programs, including role changes, process support, and workforce reductions.
• Develop findings and make strategic recommendations.
• Provide hands-on consulting in margin management, sales & operations planning, sourcing and global supply chain, organizational structure and effectiveness, non-labor cost efficiency, and KPIs.
