Job summary

Eleven Recruiting represents an investment firm in Los Angeles seeking a Director of Software Asset Management to own the full tool lifecycle, from evaluation to retirement. You will work with engineering, procurement, and security to optimize cost while preserving capability.

You will lead governance for access, usage, and audits and drive vendor negotiations, aiming to reclaim licenses and reduce waste. This role requires strong SAM/ITAM experience and FinOps awareness.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software asset management, IT asset management, engineering tooling, or technology operations.
• Experience managing an enterprise tool portfolio at scale and understanding DevOps/SDLC tooling.
• Familiarity with SAM platforms: ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow; ITIL, SOX, ISO/IEC 19770; FinOps a plus.
• Knowledge of security and regulatory requirements in financial services and budget influence.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Ability to weigh cost, value and risk with commercial acumen and drive results.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the process for evaluating and approving new tools with scoring and architecture fit.
• Own license strategy, reclaim idle licenses, and manage audits/true-ups.
• Negotiate with vendors with Procurement, drive renewals and enforce commitments.
• Set governance for access, usage, and security with Security and Compliance.
• Track usage, spend, and adoption; forecast against budget and identify savings.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture to keep tool stack aligned with target state.
