Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline is hiring a Director of R&D AI & Technology Transformation to lead the diagnosis, design and implementation of R&D data foundations. You will map end-to-end data journeys, define governance and ownership, and drive data product initiatives.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery across a broad stakeholder network. You will run workshops with R&D leadership, build prioritized interventions with clear business cases, and own delivery end-to-end.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading data strategy, governance, or R&D digital transformation in pharma.
• Experience diagnosing organizational data journeys and turning findings into recommendations.
• Proven track record from design to implementation and delivery of strategy.
• Experience designing and facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders and SMEs.
• Change plans including stakeholder engagement and capability building.

Responsibilities

• Lead diagnostics of R&D data journeys and map end-to-end data flows.
• Synthesize seven data elements and identify enterprise-wide gaps.
• Engage 50+ SMEs across Research, Development, Tech and AI/ML.
• Define a future-state ambition for data-management capabilities.
• Facilitate cross-functional workshops to align stakeholders.
• Prioritize interventions based on impact, reuse and feasibility.
• Build business cases with impact and cost estimates.
• Report progress at the RDLT level and secure leadership endorsement.
• Own implementation and delivery through to measurable outcomes.
• Establish workstreams, governance and ownership structures.
• Identify where to leverage existing platforms vs. build new capabilities.
