Job summary

HDR is seeking a Water Business Group Professional Services Director to provide executive leadership for technical quality, delivery excellence, and professional practice. This role aligns technical practice across the matrix organization and strengthens delivery capabilities to achieve high-quality project outcomes.

The position partners with operations, sector leaders, and technical executives to advance technical excellence, develop future leaders, and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in a leadership role within professional services or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and developing technical teams and practices.
• Maintain AEC industry associations.
• Active participant in an employee-owned culture and HDR values.

Responsibilities

• Lead and monitor the development and training of staff in technical, professional, business, and service delivery competencies.
• Develop approaches to new technologies and digital delivery methods.
• Lead evaluation and adoption of professional services technologies and enabling systems.
• Coordinate staff training on policies, processes, and risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement through QA/QC program activities and standards.
• Support recruitment, staffing, and workforce planning within the business group.
• Collaborate with operations, marketing, and technology leadership to advance delivery strategies.
• Lead and coordinate risk management practices for strategic initiatives and projects.
