Highly Regarded National Nonprofit in the Northern Virginia area is seeking a Director of Planned Giving to lead a growing program and a team of three Planned Giving Officers. The role focuses on expanding gifts and maintaining stewardship with legacy donors.

The director will drive a $13M annual target, collaborate with the broader development team, and oversee planned gift documentation and marketing efforts. Travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience, including staff management experience.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience overseeing planned giving targets that exceed $10M - $15M per year.
• Demonstrated track record of securing gifts of $100k+.
• Subject matter expert for planned giving, with an understanding of current tax rules and regulations that impact legacy donors.
• Ability to travel as needed, up to approximately 30%.

• Manage and mentor a growing planned giving team, that currently consists of 3 Planned Giving Officers

• Manage the legacy society and provide stewardship to donors that have expressed interest to include gifts in their estate planning
• Coordinate planned giving marketing efforts
• Oversee the review of documentation to administer planned gifts

Salary Range: $112,000 to $147,000 per year with potential flexibility based on experience + bonus potential, based on organization and individual performance

Terrific Director, Planned Giving role with a highly regarded nonprofit in the Northern Virginia area. The Director will oversee their rapidly growing planned giving program. Their legacy society has over 700 members and has grown from realizing $2.7 million in 2019 to $10+ million expected this year. Their plans include growth to $20+ million realized annually. This role will be supported by and manage a team of 3 Planned Giving Officers.
