Job summary

The University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) seeks a Director for the Center for Teaching and Learning to provide strategic leadership for faculty and staff development aligned with UNK’s mission and student success goals.

The role advances evidence-based teaching, fosters a culture of continuous learning, leads initiatives for accessibility and engagement, and uses institutional data to guide priorities and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Higher Education, Education, Business, Leadership); or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Leadership experience at the institutional/organizational/program level in higher education or similar settings.
• 3+ years of experience coordinating or managing projects in higher education or a comparable organization.
• Experience supporting faculty/staff development or instructional improvement initiatives (e.g., workshops, consultations, learning communities).
• Demonstrated leadership, management, and collaboration skills
• Proficiency with web conferencing, and productivity/project tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft 365).
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to collaborate across academic units.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity-minded, accessible practices (e.g., Universal Design for Learning).

Responsibilities

• Lead the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and provide strategic leadership for faculty and staff professional development.
• Advance innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning practices and cultivate a campus culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Establish processes to assess CTL effectiveness using data to inform priorities and drive improvement.
• Oversee development, integration, and sustainability of CTL initiatives such as UDL Hub and professional development pathways.
• Collaborate across divisions to strengthen student accessibility, engagement, retention, and degree completion.
